Stefan was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and has served as Of Counsel to the Newton Law Firm of Barr and Cole since 1994, where his concentration is in residential and commercial real estate law. He received his B.S. from Northeastern University in 1988, graduating Cum Laude. While at Northeastern University, he was inducted into the Political Science Honor Society and the University Honor Society. Stefan went on to receive his J.D. from Vermont Law School in 1991 where he was the recipient of the American Jurisprudence Award for Moot Court in 1990, and was named to Who’s Who Among American Law Students in 1990.

Stefan was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar in 1992 and the Federal Bar in 1993 and has been a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association since 1992 and the Real Estate Bar Association for Massachusetts since 1994.

For many years, Stefan has been committed to the enhancement of the legal profession and to the community at-large, and has served on the following Boards: Advisory Board Member, Newton Human Right’s Commission, 1995-1998; Board Member, NEWTV, 1998-2000; Member, Standards and Practices Committee, Real Estate Bar Association for Massachusetts (REBA), 1998-2005; Member, Residential Real Estate Conveyancing Committee, REBA, 2005-Present; In 2006, he was named Co-Chair of REBA’s Residential Real Estate Conveyancing Committee and was also appointed to REBA's Board of Directors.

Stefan has been a Board Member of the Matty Eappen Foundation from 1999-Present; and was the Special Events Fundraising Director for the Matty Eappen Foundation, 2003-2006.

He is a Founder and the President of the Room to Dream Foundation, a non-profit charity that creates healing environments for chronically-ill children in their homes, and in hospitals.

Stefan is a periodic Guest Lecturer for Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education in Boston, Massachusetts, and is co-author of Practice Tips for the Residential Real Estate Paralegal, MCLE Publications, 2005. He resides in Newton, Massachusetts.
